30 september: practical information and accessibility

The Sit-In will take place on the Geert Grooteplein, right in front of the main entrance of the Radboud Hospital. We will post a map here a.s.a.p. We are working on a livestream but can not yet confirm that we will have one. We will have a livestream on our Instagram at 9.00-11.15, 13.30-15.00 and 18.45-20.15 hours.

Sign language
Sign language interpreters in Dutch sign language will be present at the demo on stage from 08:00 until 22:30 to translate announcers, speakers, theater, etc. We will make sure that the protest is (mostly) accessible for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Wheelchair access and mobility.
The nearest wheelchair-accessible bus stop is the HAN, about 500 metres from the square. The Geert Grooteplein has large wheelchair-accessible paths with grass in between. We place all important things (stage, toilets, etc) at the paths or arrange driving plates. We will rent a wheelchair-accessible mobile toilet. This has no threshold and is 1.60m by 1.60m wide inside. The door width is 80cm. There are benches on the terrain and we will place folding chairs by the stage.

Destimulation zone
Because gathering a lot of people together is not easy for everyone, we designate part of the site as a destimulation zone. In this area, as little noise as possible is made and people leave each other alone and give each other extra space. Unfortunately we do not have permission to place an enclosed tent. The zone is indicated on site, but if you cannot find it, please approach someone from the safety team!

Food
During the demonstration there will be vegan and gluten-free breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. This is provided by action kitchen Le Sabot and various local organizations: de Plak, de Klinker, de Opstand, AKKUraatd, Rood Nijmegen and the Antikantine.
PLEASE NOTE: because something can always go wrong and it can be busier than expected, we would like to ask everyone to bring enough food and drinks for yourself (and perhaps something tasty for your neighbors) just to be on the safe side.

Safety
A safety team, first aid and a mediator will be present at the demonstration. Please bring warm clothes and protection from the rain. We are unfortunately not allowed to bring our own tents. Covid still poses a risk so please do a self-test before coming to the demo and stay home if you test positive or have flu-like symptoms.
Let’s all be mindful of each other’s boundaries. Do not photograph each other without permission. Respect each other’s personal space and do not touch others without consent. There is no room at our demonstration for racism, sexism, antisemitism, validism, fatphobia etc. Do you see something going wrong? Have a conversation or ask our mediator for help.
