VUgender(Mis)Treatment
Will speak in Dutch
The Instagram page VUgender(Mis)Treatment was started by a group of people who were worried about the way Amsterdam UMC provides ‘care’ to transgender people. Some of them have experienced this themselves or are still clients of the genderteam of the Amsterdam UMC, others stand in solidarity with them. The account was started to make these stories public and map their scope. To find mutual recognition, to break loneliness and silence, but also to demand change.

Nilin

Nilin is a non-binary trans woman and lesbian of color, she has worked for multiple organisations where she quickly learned that the world of trans healthcare has little ‘care’ for the needs and experiences of trans people. She’s waited on the system for far too long, and refuses to let others wait as she has. On June 26th she will join the fight for universal transgender self-determination and against transphobia
